Dinah Jasensky
Discipline(s): Oil
Bio:
Arizona artist Dinah Jasensky is known for her western figurative paintings. Her subjects range from old west saloon scenes to Native American children. “I paint what evokes an emotional connection,“ she says, “ whether it be humor in an old time gambling scene or the longing on a young ranch girl’s face.” Jasensky’s paintings often reflect a unique view of the old west, which is different than the typical cowboy scene.
Dinah Jasensky is an artist who has been drawing and painting since childhood. By the age of 12, she was studying oil painting with a professional artist in her home town. Also a horse enthusiast, she sold horse portraits to her fellow equestrians. She continued to study art while obtaining both a Bachelor and Masters degree of Science. She became a biological illustrator, producing works for teaching and research materials, leading to an initial career in environmental science.
Today, Jasensky is a full time, professional artist living in Tucson, Arizona. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, the Portrait Society of America, Tucson Plein Air Painters’ Society, and Friends of Western Art. She has been a participant in several juried shows, including the Greenhouse Gallery International Salon, the Empire 100 Western Art, and the Mountain Oyster Club Western Art shows, among others. Jasensky is currently represented by Galleries West of Jackson, Wyoming, Sanders Gallery and Craig Fine Arts of Tucson, Arizona.
